Peppermint Candy Spoons

I didn't realize that when I had my heart set on making Peppermint Candy Spoons that the molds were a hot commodity this time of year so I am thankful to a friend for lending me her mold and thanks to her we now have lovely candy spoons to decorate our hot cocoa, coffees and cocktails. They are super quick and easy to make and look so cute on the side of a plate.

INGREDIENTS

1 bag of peppermint candies (green or red)

zip lock bag/meat tenderizer or mini food processor

DIRECTIONS

Heat oven to 300F.

Remove the wrappers from the candy and place in zip lock bag and crush candy into tiny pieces or you can add all the candy to your mini food processor and pulse a few times until you get candy crumble.

Spoon crushed candy into the mold insuring you fill it up to the top.

Place in oven for about 5 to 7 mins until all the candy melts, remove from oven. Let cool completely at room temperature.  Do NOT place the mold into the fridge to think you're saving time, the candy will crack and you'll be re-crushing your candy.

Note: You have to watch the candy while its melting and you may want to remove the mold from the oven and top the molds with more candy to make thicker spoons and heat a few minutes longer.

Store you crushed peppermint candy in a zip lock bag if you plan on using it to top hot cocoa or rim martini glasses for cocktails ~ it will harden quickly.

DECORATION OPTIONAL:

Dip the tips of the spoons in tempered chocolate to coat and sprinkle holiday sprinkles on top.
