Low Budget Tips for Celebrating Valentine's Day

I am a hopeless romantic and truly believe in love everlasting and although Valentine's Day is surrounded by high expectations I don't want costly bouquets of roses or extravagant boxes of chocolates only because that's what you're supposed to receive on Valentine's Day to show and give love but would rather receive well thought out gestures and tokens of love!

Since we're post Christmas and probably cash poor after more than likely spending extravagantly for the holidays and we all probably have more stuff than we'll ever use, we've put together a list of Low Budget Tips for Celebrating Valentine's Day while showering our significant other with thoughtful and meaningful gestures to share our love and to remind them how much they mean to us.

This year my husband and I will be celebrating our very happy 25th Wedding Anniversary! He is the love of my life and I cherish every single moment we spend together and the best and most romantic things we've ever shared together are listed below and we thought we'd have some fun adding some very cute pictures.

We're still two young kids at heart happy in love who have discovered that it's the subtle and simple ways we show love to each other that have kept us happily in love all these years!

1. Make breakfast in bed.

2. Leave notes, mints or chocolates on their pillow.

3. Take the time to find your most special memories you've captured in photos and create a collage of your relationship.

4. Create a love coupon that your love can redeem from you at any time; choose something romantic.

5. Write love notes and stick them in a bottle.

6. Leave sticky notes throughout the home and car with loving messages. A great fun idea is writing messages with shaving cream on the bathroom mirror while they're showering.

7. Plan a romantic dinner for two in your home with all your loves favourite dishes; if you have kids send them to off to the grandparents overnight.

8. Pull out the champagne glasses from your wedding and sip champagne while remembering the most important day of your life or start a new tradition and buy a set and use them yearly on Valentine's Day or other special occasions.

9. Dance the night away to your song and/or a collection of your favourite songs.

10. Give back rubs and body massages.

11. Make it a spa day; pick up some bubble bath, body scrub, scented candles and make them into a gift basket for the two of you to enjoy together.

12. Go lingerie shopping together and pick out what you'd have the other wear on your special night.

13. Go for a long romantic walk just like when you were brand new love birds, gaze at the stars or watch a sunrise and sunset together.

14. Carve your initials in a tree.

15. Create a Top 10 List ~ 10 Best Reasons Why I Love You!

Truth be told, in my dreams I would love to be whisked away to Paris France where my love and I would spend our day lovingly strolling along the River Seine, gazing at the city lights of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower and placing a love lock on one of the bridges along the Seine River; although not a desired practice by Parisian authorities, it's is one heck of a romantic idea locking your love in the most romantic city in the world. If you're not familiar with Love Locks which are a symbol of love and commitment, it is believed the practice originated in China where lover would place a padlock on a chain or gate and throw away the key as symbolically locking their love forever signifying an expression of hope and humanity, connecting people all over the world with one thing that unites us all - love! For now I'll keep dreaming and cherish what I have and dream someday I'll be able to lock our love for eternity on a bridge.

How will you be showering your love this Valentine's Day?
