Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies

Hazelnuts and chocolate are a match made in heaven as far as I am concerned and I think most would agree with the popularity of Nutella. I would have used Nutella in this recipe but what is normally  a staple product in our house tends to disappear as quickly as it comes into the house; so I substituted the Nutella with melted milk chocolate and in place of standard table salt used sea salt for a heighted flavourful taste.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/3 cup milk

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 cup of cooled melted chocolate (substitute with Nutella if desired)

1 3/4 cups flour

1 cup chopped hazelnuts

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp sea salt

DIRECTIONS

Heat oven to 400F.  Mix butter, sugar, milk, vanilla, and chocolate until well blended and then stir in the dry ingredients; flour, baking soda, salt and hazel nuts and mix well.

Once all the ingredients are incorporated well, I wrap the dough and refrigerate for a couple of hours; cold hardened dough is much easier to work with especially if shaping into balls.

Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes.
