It was my pleasure to receive and review Lilysilks 100% Pure Mulberry Silk Pillow Case 19 Momme; this product which is a real treat to sleep on ~ is luxury at its finest!
If you’re not familiar with Mulberry Silk, it is the highest, finest and most refined silk available in the world with its history in China where farmers grow mulberry leaves for silk worms to feed on. The cocoons are then spun into raw Mulberry Silk Fibers. The fibers are pure white in colour, uniform in size and made up of individual long fibers.
Mulberry silk is also known for its health benefits as its 100% natural, odourless and hypoallergenic. The essential amino acids contained in Mulberry silk helps repair skin damage, promotes metabolism and better blood flow which delays the aging process (I’ll be sleeping with my face down in the pillow every night from now on!)
The momme weight of 19 is the perfect weight for strength and durability. Anything less than 19 mommes will wear quicker. The pillow case is two sided; the silk side is so soft and luxurious and has very high luster, whereas the cotton side with 400 threat count is also very strong. I love that has a zippered end which perfectly encapsulates my pillow. Contrary to some myths about silk, it’s not slippery at all.
Washing is simple provided it is washed on a delicate cycle with gentle mild silk friendly detergent, dry on low and iron while still damp. The more you wash it the softer it seems to become. It is a beautifully crafted product that will last you years and the wonderful news is that microscopic life such as bedbugs cannot live on silk; so this is a bonus in of itself.
